Joe Waechter is a playwright from the Appalachian Mountains. He holds an MFA in Playwriting from Brown University. His plays include Lake Untersee, The Strangler, The Memory Library, 144 Dead Dogs, and Home is Another Plane. His work has been developed or produced at Playwrights Horizons, Ars Nova, McCarter Theatre, Clubbed Thumb, and Electric Pear Productions. Joe is the recipient of a Weston Award in Playwriting and a 2008-9 Lucille Lortel Playwriting Fellowship, and twice received awards from the Kennedy Center/ACTF. Recently, Joe was awarded a travel grant to visit Iceland and research an upcoming project about landscape, elves, religion and the beginning of the world. His play Dragonflies is available from Dramatics Publishing, and his articles have appeared in The Dramatist magazine.
