THE HOOT OWL
An opera for headphones.
Three unrehearsed performers receive headphones and iPods loaded with pre-recorded instructions. They interpret the instructions in real time before a live audience. Through a combination of song, dance, storytelling and noise, the audience watches the hilarious and moving story of three Southern women dressed in camo departing for a weekend hunting trip. This gripping and highly theatrical performance is funny, strange, and at times incredibly moving, as it tackles the politics of role-playing, deer hunting, and - the most controversial - cornbread.
